Mid-East Area Agency on Aging
Mid-East Area Agency on Aging (MEAAA) has provided programs and services for older adults since its incorporation in 1973 as a not-for-profit agency.
MEAAA programs and services are available for anyone age 60 and older who lives in the counties of St. Louis, Franklin, Jefferson and St. Charles.
MEAAA senior centers serve as community focal points for older citizens. Each multi-purpose center offers hot, nutritious congregate meals and delivers meals to eligible homebound seniors.
Most centers are open every weekday and offer educational, recreational and health programs, along with Information and Assistance services, telephone reassurance, volunteer opportunities and more. There is no charge for center meals or services, but participants are given the opportunity to support them with contributions.
MEAAA's Meals on Wheels program brings nutritionally balanced meals on a voluntary contribution basis to eligible homebound people age 60 and older. To apply, contact the MEAAA senior center nearest you. Ask for the center's administrator. He or she will visit applicants to determine if they are eligible. People who receive this service may make voluntary contributions to help support the program.
The program also needs volunteers to make meals available to more seniors in need. If you need home-delivered meals or would like to volunteer, call the senior center nearest you in St. Louis, Jefferson, Franklin or St. Charles counties.
MEAAA is a proud member of the Meals on Wheels Association of America.
MEAAA's professional Information and Assistance specialists help older adults and their families by linking them with MEAAA programs and community resources.
These specialists provide help by telephone or during visits to MEAAA senior centers on senior employment, transportation, energy assistance, consumer problems, in-home services, housing, nursing homes, disaster assistance, living wills, Property Tax Credit Claims (Circuit Breaker) and more.
The Family Caregiver Support Program assists those who are caring for a loved one age 60 or older and grandparents and other relatives age 60 and older raising other family members' children as their own.
MEAAA also contracts with other agencies to provide services such as legal assistance, transportation, adult day care and more.
